Early Life

* October 27, 1728 James Cook jr. was born to James Cook and Grace Pace. (one of seven children-second child).

* November 3, 1728 James Cook was baptized.

* 1736-James moved from Marton, England to Great Ayton, England where he attended a local school.

*Early 1745- James and his family moved to Staithes, England.

*1745-James Cook began to apprentice under William Sanderson who was a haberdasher and grocer.

*1746-Cook stopped working for Sanderson and began to apprentice under John Walker, a Whitby shipowner.

*1755-James stopped working under John Walker.

*1755-James joined the royal navy.
